PM Modi Inaugurates INR 8,260 Crore Projects on Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day, Calls State India’s Spiritual Hub


Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led “Uttarakhand’s 25th Foundation Day” celebrations at the Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun. The event showcased the state’s remarkable transformation from limited beginnings to becoming one of India’s fastest-growing hill states in infrastructure, tourism, and spirituality.

To commemorate this Silver Jubilee, PM Modi released a special postal stamp and inaugurated an exhibition. He appreciated Uttarakhand's people for their contribution towards the nation’s development. He added that the state reflects the true spirit of “Vocal for Local”.

He highlighted Uttarakhand’s spiritual and cultural significance, saying that “the state’s real power lies in its spiritual strength.” He envisioned "Devbhoomi as the Global Spiritual Capital”, citing sacred pilgrimage sites like Kedarnath, Badrinath, and Gangotri as symbols of India’s devotion and unity.

During the celebration, the Prime Minister “inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth INR 8,260 crore”. Capital*”,These projects included sectors – drinking water, irrigation, urban development, renewable energy, and sports. Some key projects include the “Song Dam Drinking Water Project”, the “Jamarani Dam Multipurpose Project”, “solar energy installations”, and the “AstroTurf Hockey Ground in Haldwani”.

Modi said Uttarakhand has seen significant growth in the past 25 years. The state’s budget rose from INR 4,000 crore to over INR 1 lakh crore. ”Electricity generation has increased four times, the road network has doubled, and the number of medical colleges has grown from one to ten,” he added.

He applauded the “Dhami government’s decisive leadership” and appreciated its implementation of the “Uniform Civil Code (UCC)” and efforts to strengthen law and order and improve disaster management systems.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also announced a “pension hike for statehood activists”.
Modi added that the upcoming years will define Uttarakhand’s role in shaping India’s future—as both a spiritual and economic hub.
