Uttar Pradesh: 63-year-old husband brutally murders third wife (33) in Jhansi; Loader informs police
Police added that the accused placed the wood along with the victim's body and her personal belongings inside the box and set it on fire
A spine-chilling murder has come to light in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi city, where a 63-year-old man has allegedly brutally murdered his third wife, aged 33, after she suspected him of being involved with someone else, according to ANI.
SSP BBGTS Murthy said that the police received a report from a loader driver who was transporting a large box on his loader on the intervening night of January 17–18, 2026.
“The driver suspected that the contents of the box warranted investigation. Our police team responded and found burnt remains of a human inside,” the SSP said while speaking to news agency ANI on the matter.
The loader driver was accompanied by a young man, identified as Nitin Kumar, who was immediately taken into police custody.
During interrogation, Nitin revealed that his father, Ram Singh Parihar, aged 63, lived with his "third wife", Preeti, who was nearly 33, in a rented house, the SSP said.
Police learned that the victim had been murdered nearly a week before the information was received.
In an effort to dispose of the body, Ram Singh Parihar, along with his son Nitin (from his second wife) and his second wife Geeta, ordered a large box and purchased two quintals of wood.
Police added that the accused placed the wood along with the victim’s body and her personal belongings inside the box and set it on fire.
“They then called the loader to transport the remains and ashes, which raised the suspicion of the loader driver,” the police officer further added.
The prime accused, Ram Singh Parihar, along with his son Nitin and his second wife Geeta, has been arrested and sent to jail today.
Police said that Ram Singh Parihar and the victim had been in a relationship for the past 10 years, when the victim was around 23 and the accused was around 53. The reason behind the murder is said to be an extramarital affair.
“The murder was done because of a long-standing relationship between Ram Singh Parihar and the victim, Preeti....She had become suspicious that her husband, Ram Singh, was involved with someone else... This suspicion led to a quarrel, and during the argument, Ram Singh attacked Preeti with an axe, striking her on the head, which resulted in her death...” the SSP BBGTS Murthy is quoted as saying by ANI.

According to a report by NDTV, the prime accused, a retired railway employee, and the victim were in a live-in relationship. He stuffed her body into a metal trunk and set it on fire, following the murder. Later, he dumped the ashes in a river before attempting to move the trunk to his second wife's house.
He Ram Singh Parihar, it said, citing initial investigation, was allegedly demanding huge sums of money from his, having already taken lakhs of rupees.
When the police arrived and forced open the trunk, they were met with charred remains, human skeletal remains, and burnt material.
