“The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice.”: PM Modi
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has been placed on high alert following yesterday’s car blast in Delhi, ACP Aliganj Sayed Areeb Ahmad told news agency ANI.
Police are conducting checks at various strategic locations across the city, including vehicle inspections, while social media activity is also being closely monitored.
ACP Sayed Areeb Ahmad said, “We are urging the public not to pay heed to any rumours. We are also monitoring social media.”
Lucknow Police, accompanied by the dog squad, are currently checking vehicles in the Hazratganj area.
Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-level security review meeting at his residence on Tuesday.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Director General of the National Investigation Agency, and the Delhi Police Commissioner were present at the meeting. The Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir also joined the meeting virtually.
The review came in the wake of the November 10 blast in Delhi, which left eight people dead and several others injured.
The National Security Guard (NSG), along with other agencies, is conducting investigations into the incident.
The blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort yesterday around 7 p.m., claiming at least eight lives, according to ANI. However, news agency PTI reported that the death toll has risen to 12, with three people succumbing to their injuries later.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on a two-day visit to Bhutan, issued a stern warning from Thimphu, saying, “The conspirators behind this will not be spared. All those responsible will be brought to justice.”
The nature of the explosion is yet to be determined as investigations continue.
