K.K. Mishra is the owner of Banshidhar Exports Pvt. Ltd., which supplies tobacco to gutkha manufacturers in the region, the report added.
The son of a tobacco businessman hit more than four people, including a motorcycle rider, with his Lamborghini car in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, according to news agency ANI.
Several people were severely injured in the incident, including suffering leg injuries and fractures. The car involved in the accident has been seized by the Gwaltoli police station.
Samajwadi Party MLA from Kanpur Cantonment, Mohd Hassan Roomi, speaking on the incident, strongly criticised it, saying it reflected a mindset of treating people as “concrete” on the road.
He said, “The power-protected young men from these wealthy families, driving their expensive cars on the roads, treat the poor as if they are just concrete on the road, crushing them under their wheels.”
“Who will take action against them? The public will take action against them. The time has come for the public to overthrow them. In 2027, the Samajwadi Party is the only alternative for the people; there is no other option,” he added.
According to a report by The Hindu, police have filed an FIR against an “unidentified person” in the incident that occurred on VIP Road in the upscale Gwaltoli area on Sunday (February 8, 2026).
Eyewitnesses said the car first hit an autorickshaw and then crashed into a stationary motorcycle, throwing its rider nearly 10 feet into the air.
Then the car mounted the bike’s front wheel and dragged it for some distance before hitting an electric pole and coming to a halt, the The Hindu report said.
As of now, no one has been detained in connection with the incident, the report said, citing Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Atul Kumar Srivastava.
On Sunday, a person identified as Srivastava told reporters, the The Hindu report said, that the luxury car was allegedly driven by Shivam Mishra, the son of businessman K.K. Mishra.
K.K. Mishra is the owner of Banshidhar Exports Pvt. Ltd., which supplies tobacco to gutkha manufacturers in the region, the report added.
Following the incident, angry residents surrounded the car, forcing the driver to remain inside. However, eyewitnesses alleged that private bouncers accompanying the accused tried to push back the crowd and behaved aggressively, escalating tensions.
The report added that police rushed to the scene, rescued the driver, and shifted him and the injured to a private hospital.
Victims and residents have alleged misbehaviour by associates of the accused and claimed that police were going easy on him due to his family’s alleged influence, The Hindu report said.
