Uttar Pradesh: Resident from Muzaffarnagar reunites with family after 28 years during SIR process
“After nearly 15–20 years, my younger brother informed me that Uncle Sharif had returned,” he added.
In a surprising turn of events, a resident from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar reunited with his family after 28 years during the SIR process, the family said.
The person, who had gone missing and was later presumed dead by the family, has been identified as Sharif.
Sharif’s nephew, Aklim, told ANI that Sharif is the younger brother of his father. He said that Sharif’s wife passed away in 1997, after which he remarried in West Bengal.
“At that time, only landline phones were available, and I gave him (Sharif) three contact numbers. After that, he disappeared,” Aklim said.
He added that he searched for his chacha in 2011, but when he could not find him, he assumed his chacha had died.

“After nearly 15–20 years, my younger brother informed me that Uncle Sharif had returned,” he added.
Aklim stated that at first he could not believe it; however, seeing him in person confirmed that he was alive.
“Neighbours and relatives gathered to meet him, and many connected through video calls. He came to complete official documents,” he added.
Aklim further said that for some reason, Sharif’s form filed for the SIR process in West Bengal was rejected, which was why Sharif decided to visit his family in Uttar Pradesh to obtain the original copies of the documents.
Aklim added that he handed over some of the original documents to Sharif.
“The BLO asked for originals, which we agreed to send. Now Sharif is learning about the many family members who have passed away, including our grandfather in 2004, and who among us are still alive..." he added.
Aklim expressed profound happiness and gratitude over the visit of his father’s younger brother after nearly three decades. He said that he insisted Sharif stay at home; however, Sharif could not due to SIR deadlines and promised that he would visit again in February.
