#EconomicSurvey: Government says achieving high end of 6.75-7.5% growth difficult
New Delhi: The Finance Ministry on Friday in its mid-year economic survey said that achieving upper end of 6.75 percent to 7.5 percent real GDP growth predicted in February is difficult. For the first time, the government presented a second or a mid-year economic survey. Authored by Chief Economic Adviser Arvind Subramanian, also said inflation was expected to remain below the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) 4 percent target through to the end of the fiscal year and described scope for monetary easing as “considerable”.

Punjab govt proposes SPG to combat terror, infiltration, hijacking incidents
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday approved, in principle, the proposal of the state police to set up an elite specially trained Special Protection Group (SPG), with a clear mandate to neutralise armed aggressors, and to combat terrorism, infiltration, hijacking, hostage-taking and other sensitive threat situations.
