Vikas Barala ignores summons, IG Luthra promises action

Chandigarh: Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala, on Wednesday failed to turn up at the Sector 26 police station after being summoned by the Chandigarh Police in connection with the stalking case of an IAS officer's daughter.

Chandigarh: Vikas Barala, son of Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala, on Wednesday failed to turn up at the Sector 26 police station after being summoned by the Chandigarh Police in connection with the stalking case of an IAS officer's daughter. However, the Chandigarh Police IG Tejinder Luthra promised action against the accused if he won't cooperate during the investigation. 

He said that Vikas Barala refused to accept the notice therefore the police pasted the notice on the wall of his residence. Luthra told media, "We will take every possible step to make sure that the girl gets justice."

Barala was asked to appear before the investigating team at Sector 26 police station at 11 am. DSP (East) Satish Kumar and SHO Jaspal Singh who were present at the police station also left at around 11.35 am.

The summons were pasted outside Barala's house in Sector 7 in Chandigarh. Vikas Barala (23) and his friend Ashish Kumar (22), were arrested on Saturday by the UT Police for allegedly stalking Varnika Kundu, daughter of a Haryana IAS officer Varinder Singh Kundu.

The UT IG Luthra said that the accused accused refused to give their blood and urine samples. Such refusal will be held against them in the investigation and trial. 

He said, "Additional evidence is welcome but we now have sufficient CCTV footage."
