Vigilance nabs ASI in a bribery case

Chandigarh: State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) caught red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 10000/-.                 

Disclosing this here an official spokesman of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Jagir Singh posted at Police Station Tripari in Patiala city was nabbed red handed on the complaint of Rahul Kumar of village Manakpur, PS Banur, district Patiala. 

The Complainant has approached the VB that the accused ASI was demanding Rs. 20000 to release his vehicle confiscated in an excise case. After verifying his information, the Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.10,000/- from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. 

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigations was under progress.
