Punjab is known for its rich culture and history. If we look at the history of India, then the state of Punjab has a significant name. 

The literal meaning of Punjab is five rivers which are Chenab, Ravi, Beas, Sutlej, and Jhelum. Punjab is the home of the brave and strong. 

They have richness in everything, whether its food or their culture. So here is some trivia about Punjab and its history which may be unknown to many or lost in the classroom memories of youth.   

1 Punjab, in its present form as we look on it now came into existence on 31 October 1966 after the separation of Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.   

2 Amritsar, the city of Golden Temple, was founded by Guru Ram Das.   

3 The Sikh culture came into existence during the 15th and 16th century.   

4 Guru Arjan Dev compiled the Adi Granth, and military art was introduced by his son Guru Har Gobind Singh.  

5 If we talk about the symbols of Punjab, here are some:-   

Tree:– Tahli (Sheesham)   

River:– Indus   

Animal:– Blackbuck   

Bird:– Baaz   

6 Of the five Takaths of Sikh, there are three in Punjab   

1 Shri Akal Takht Sahib 

2 Damdama Sahib   

3 Anand Pur Sahib   

7 Amritsar is one of the famous cities of Punjab. The city is home to one of the sacred places of the Sikhism which is the Golden Temple.   

8 The traditional and very famous dance form of Punjab is Gidha and Bhangra the beats of which are loved the world over.   

9 Punjab is also known as the food city of the country with primary agriculture products being wheat, Rice, Maize, Bajra, Jowar, Barley, oilseeds, and potato. 

Punjab is a state which has a vibrant culture and history. The people of Punjab are very proud of their culture and are famous for their love towards their religion.
