CM TO HANDOVER APPOINTMENT LETTERS TO 732 CANAL PATWARIES ON FRIDAY-RANA GURJEET SINGH
Irrigation department has completed the recruitment process of 732 Canal Patwaries and Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will hand over appointment letters to these newly recruited Canal Patwaries on July 14.
Announcing this in a statement issued here, Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjeet Singh said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh will hand over appointment letters to 732 newly recruited Canal Patwaris during a simple function to be organised in the complex of Shivalik Public School Mohali on Friday. “The recruitment of these canal patwaries was much needed as in 1997-98; about 800 Canal Patwaris were transferred from the irrigation department to the revenue department. Since then the irrigation department was facing shortage of Canal Patwaris and the work was very much affected”, he added.
SC COMMISSION SEEKS REPORT FROM POLICE COMMISSIONER WITHIN ONE WEEK
The Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission has directed the Police Commissioner, Amritsar to probe the matter thoroughly which pertains to the rape of a dalit girl in a private college of Amritsar.
Disclosing this here today, the Chairman of the Commission Mr. Rajesh Bagha said that a girl who had gone to the college to seek admission was raped by a youth who offered her a glass of juice while she was filling the form. Afterwards when the girl became unconscious, the youth committed the ghastly act. The police didn't initiate any action as the youth belonged to a well-off family.
Bagha said that acting swiftly in the matter, the commission has instructed the Police Commissioner, Amritsar to submit the complete report in this regard within 1 week to the commission.
BRAHM MOHINDRA ANNOUNCES RS. 5 CRORE FOR MODERNISATION OF FOOD SAFETY DEPARTMENT
The Punjab Government today announced to provide Rs. 5 crore for the modernization of the Food Safety Department and initiated the first ever mobile testing lab facility to check the adulterated food products across the state.
Disclosing this here today on the occasion of capability building programme organized by the health department, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mr. Brahm Mohindra said that adulteration of food is a cause of concern for it is directly connected with the health and life of citizens. He said that by ensuring the supply of nutritious and unadulterated food products, many deadly diseases like Cancer, Hepatitis, Gastric disorders can be curbed.
