Brahm Mohindra orders vigilance probe to expose fake degree racket
Punjab Health Minister Brahm Mohindra has ordered a vigilance inquiry to expose fake degree racket operating in the state which is issuing fake certificates and fake Degrees of Bachelor of Ayurveda Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) in the name of Baba Farid University.
The matter of fake certificates and fake degrees was detected by the Registrar of the Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicine Punjab when a person Rajesh Kumar, resident of Gurdaspur, visited the Board of Ayurvedic and Unani Systems of Medicines for renewal of his registration certificate. Dr. Sanjeev Goyal the Registrar found that the certificates of the candidate were not original and the official informed the higher authorities. A fake degree racket is being operated in the state.
Government goes in for acceleration mode to speed up promotions of teachers
The Education Departmenthas taken decision aimed at ending the stalemate in the matter of promotion of teachers. The department has decided to hold Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting twice in a year to ensure that the teachers eligible for promotion get promoted in a fixed time frame. This was disclosed by the Education Minister, Punjab, Aruna Chaudhary.
CM condoles the death of Buta Singh’s sister
Captain Amarinder Singh has condoled the death of Sardarni Pritam Kaur (102), elder sister of former Union Home Minister Sardar Buta Singh and mother of former Punjab Minister Joginder Singh Mann.
Sardarni Pritam Kaur, who passed away at her residence in Jalowal village near Jalandhar, is survived by four sons and a daughter. In his condolence message, the Chief Minister said that Sardarni Pritam Kaur was a hard working, noble and pious soul with rare qualities of the head and the heart.
Date of general transfers extended
The Punjab Government has extended the last date for the general postings and transfers of officers and officials of the government in the state during 2017-18.
Disclosing this here today, a spokesman of the Punjab Government said that now the general transfers would be done upto 10th July, 2017 but this decision would not be implemented in the department of Irrigation and Power. Earlier, date of general posting and transfers was 30-6-2017, added the spokesman.
Cabinet gives green signal for Punjab goods carriages regulation and prevention of cartelization rules 2017 to abolish transport union
Punjab Cabinet on Wednesday gave its approval to the Punjab Goods Carriages (Regulation and Prevention of Cartelization Rules), 2017, which bar good carriage operators from forming cartels or unions in the state.
The proposed new rules will be placed in public domain for 30 days for any comments or objections, said the spokesperson, adding that the move was aimed at destroying the mafia of good transporters who had cartelised the business over the past several years, obstructing the free and fair movement of goods transport, thereby also impacting industrial development of the state.
State to set up Rs. 100 crore road safety fund in accordance with SC guidelines
The Punjab Cabinet on Wednesday decided to set up a Rs. 100 crore Road Safety Fund, in accordance with the Supreme Court guidelines of 2016, to enhance public safety on the roads and to minimise road fatalities.
The fund would be set up by diverting 50% of the compounding fee collected by road enforcement agencies i.e Police and the Transport departments, an official spokesperson disclosed after a cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh. The proposed fund will be on the pattern of a similar fund created by Kerala in 2007.
Besides spreading road safety awareness, the fund will be utilised to enable automatic detection of over-speeding and overloading of vehicles.
PUNJAB govt secures Rs 206 crore worth of bids in second e-auction of sand mines
The Punjab government on Wednesday secured bids worth Rs. 206 crore in its second e-auction of sand mines, conducted under the supervision of a retired High Court judge and two IAS officers.
The two IAS officers were drawn by the Department of Mining from other departments to ensure total transparency in the bidding process for 55 mines. Of these 55 mines tendered, 43 were put on auction.
A total of 306 bidders participated in the e-auction of the new mines, which will release an estimated 29 lakh tonnes of material to mark a crucial addition to the existing capacity, thereby further easing the demand pressure and stabilizing the price of sand in the market, an official spokesperson said after the e-auctions.
