Prominent poet Surjit Patar is the new chairman of Punjab Arts Council

The Punjab government has appointed prominent poet Surjit Patar as the new chairman of Punjab Arts Council. Artist Satinder Satti was the chairperson of the council. Tourism and Culture Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu handed over the appointment letter to Patar at his residence. 

Sidhu wanted to pass on the reigns of the Council to noted Punjabi poet Surjit Patar by removing Satti as she was Akali loyalist.

He reportedly disclosed to a select group of participants of the meeting that the file related to decision has been sent to the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for approval and finally the CM approved the name of Patar. 

Ravneet Singh Bittu, the MP from Ludhiana and Punjabi singer Pammi Bai accompanied Sidhu to Patar's residence.
