Paid parking system may resume in Mohali

News, Punjab

Demand for the resumption of the paid parking system in Mohali is all set to be raised during the upcoming MC House meeting scheduled for January 7.

The councillors claimed that the parking lots in most markets in the town witness chaos daily. RP Sharma, councillor from the Phase VI area said that in absence of any check, people park their vehicles in the wrong manner. So, paid parking is the only solution to the problem.

Councillors Gurmit Kaur, Amrik Singh Tehsildar and Paramjit Kahlon said getting parking space in the markets of Phase 1, 5, 3B2, 7, 9, 10 and 11 is very difficult, especially during evening hours.

Most people park their vehicles mindlessly without bothering that their act would harass other visitors. The issue sometimes occur in fight said the councillors. So, they said that they will take up the issue in the upcoming House meeting.

The paid parking system was abolished in the MC House meeting in April 2016. While announcing abolishment of the system, Mayor Kulwant Singh had said the system would be reintroduced here but with modifications.
