News, Punjab

Ludhiana: Judicial Magistrate Gurpreet Kaur on Monday remanded the factory owner Inderjit Singh Gola of Model Town Extension who was booked by police under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and 285 (Negligent conduct with respect to fire or combustible matter) of the IPC after the collapse of his factory (five-storey building) near Suffian Chowk on November 20 resulting into death of thirteen persons.

The accused pleaded that it is administration's failure and they are putting the burden on an innocent person to hide their carelessness. He added that police had demanded two-day police remand of the accused, but the judge declined the plea on the pretext that police has already questioned him enough.
