In a significant move, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed Punjab and Haryana governments to issue fresh instructions to all the district magistrates to publicise the lists of registered and unauthorised travel agents. The court has also directed the governments to want the residents not to approach the unauthorised travel agents. Directions have been given to both states for publicise the list of registered travel agents on regular basis through television, radio, newspapers and others means of communication. The state governments have been directed by the court to file an action taken report in the travel agents fraud cases before the HC on or before July 5. The unauthorised travel agents have been duping the people by promising them to send abroad. People fall in their traps and give money to them. Later, the travel agents shut down their offices and run away. Even the unauthorised travel agents have links with the human trafficking mafia. Recently, a Ludhiana based girl was sent to Dubai and the agent promised her a good job in Dubai. But, the girl fell in the trap of human trafficking mafia in Dubai. Fortunately, she managed to send the message of her abduction to her parents and finally, rescued by the authorities with the help of Indian High Commission in Dubai.
