Morinda: The ‘kidnapping’ of a local 11-year-old boy two days ago on Thursday turned out to be a cooked-up story.
The bag of Class V student Prabhjot Singh was found at the bus stop near his house. About two hours later, he was found by his grandfather a few km away on the way to his ancestral village.
Ropar SSP Raj Bachan Singh held a press conference today in the presence Prabhjot and his grandfather, Manjit Singh. He said the boy had spun a yarn to meet his grandfather.
On Thursday, Manjit had lodged a complaint that Prabhjot was kidnapped by four persons in a white car when he was waiting for his school bus at Morinda. The kidnappers, however, released him soon after near new railway station when he was spotted by his grandfather, it was stated in the complaint. Manjit Singh informed that Prabhjot and his sister had shifted with their mother from their nearby Shahpur village last month and they had no enmity with anyone.
The police investigating the case scrutinised the CCTV cameras installed on the road near the bus stop and no such car was seen on the road at the time stated by Prabhjot Singh. Even parents of other students boarding the bus everyday on the spot denied witnessing any such incident.
