AAP to hold dharna at Bathinda thermal plant

News, Punjab

Leader of Opposition Sukhpal Khaira today said the AAP would hold a dharna at Bathinda thermal plant against the government’s move to shut the plant.

He said: “The Congress, in its manifesto, had said the thermal plants of Bathinda and Ropar won’t be closed. The Centre had recently allocated Rs 750 crore for their renovation".

Adding on he said that despite this, the government has decided to shut the plant. We will hold a dharna outside the plant on December 30. He said the state government should issue a white paper on why thermal plants in the state are being shut.

Khaira said: “The Congress has now forgotten their election promises. Manpreet Badal has said one unit of power from the plant is costing Rs 11.90, while the officials tell us they are generating power at Rs 2.5 or Rs 3 per unit.”
