Will Schools Be Reopening Tomorrow? Here's What We Know

Punjab school winter vacation holidays extension latest news today: With North India, including Punjab, reeling under a severe cold wave, uncertainty looms over whether schools will reopen as scheduled on January 1 or if winter vacations will be extended further.

The Punjab government had initially announced winter vacations for schools until December 31. However, the persistent cold wave has raised concerns among parents, teachers, and students, prompting speculation that the holidays might be extended to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Likewise, the Punjab Government has extended the holidays till January 7.

An orange alert has been issued across Punjab due to dense fog and biting cold brought on by a cyclonic system near the region. The Meteorological Center has warned that visibility may drop to zero in some areas. Snowfall in the northern mountains has exacerbated the chilly conditions, causing temperatures in Punjab and Chandigarh to plummet.

Adding to the weather woes, a Western Disturbance is expected to become active between January 1 and 6. This system is likely to bring rain to Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and parts of the plains, including Punjab and Chandigarh. Meteorologists predict another drop in temperatures following the rain, which could prolong the cold wave.

As the new year approaches, residents are advised to stay warm and prepare for the possibility of extended winter vacations.
