Punjab Extends Winter Vacation for Schools Amid Cold Wave
All schools will open on January 8, tweeted Harjot Singh Bains
Punjab School Winter Vacation Holidays Extended Latest News Today: The Punjab government has announced an extension of winter vacations for schools across the state due to the ongoing cold wave. State Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains shared the update on Twitter, stating that all government, aided, recognized, and private schools will remain closed until January 7.
"As per the directions of the Hon'ble Chief Minister, due to cold weather, holidays are being observed in all government, aided, recognized, and private schools of Punjab till January 7. All schools will open on January 8," tweeted Bains.
This decision comes as the region experiences severe cold weather conditions, with dense fog and low temperatures disrupting daily life. An orange alert has been issued in Punjab due to the cold wave and reduced visibility caused by fog. The ongoing snowfall in northern mountainous regions and the anticipated impact of a Western Disturbance between January 1 and 6 are expected to further lower temperatures in Punjab and surrounding areas.
Parents, students, and teachers have welcomed the decision, as concerns over the safety and health of children during the harsh weather were mounting. Schools are now set to reopen on January 8, offering some respite as residents brace for continued cold conditions in the coming days.
