Fact Check

MOHALI: Few days back, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had given a statement in his Parliament and alleged that the Indian government could be behind the murder of Separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canada expelled Indian diplomat Pawan Kumar Roy soon after this statement, in response to which India also summoned the Canadian High Commission and expelled a diplomat.

Now, a video of Canada's High Commissioner to India Cameron MacKay is going viral on social media, in which MacKay can be seen answering a question  to a Journalist about Canada's stance on Khalistani organizations. In response to the question, MacKay said, "In Canada they love people of all religions, all religions are welcome in Canada."

This video is being made viral claiming that the Canadian Ambassador expelled by India paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple, Amritsar) before returning to his home country.

Facebook page "Shaheed Bhai Dayala Ji" shared the viral video and wrote, "Canadian Ambassador paid obeisance at Sri Darbar Sahib before returning to Canada."

Spokesman in its investigation found the viral post to be misleading. This viral video is not recent nor is it from Darbar Sahib Sri Amritsar. This video is of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib located in Delhi.
