A 30-year-old man allegedly attempted to rape a four-year-old girl in
Beant Nagar. The girl was admitted to the Civil Hospital where a board
of doctors conducted her medical examination, the report of which is
still pending.
The police have started a probe. They had filed a
complaint regarding this matter. When kin of the girl and local residents staged a protest in
front of the police station, the police took the accused in
custody, but no case has been registered yet.
Narinder Kumar, SHO of the Cantonment police station, said a probe was on and action would be taken after the medical report was out.
The girl’s mother has alleged that two days ago, on the eve of ‘Holi’, her four-year-old daughter came to her crying and told her that a neighbour physically assaulted her and threatened that if she told someone about it, he would do it again.
The woman also alleged that the accused attempted to rape her daughter.
She said the girl was admitted to the Civil Hospital yesterday and
lodged a complaint around 9 pm, but no action had been taken yet.
SHO Narinder Kumar said they had rounded up the accused and after registration of a case, he would be produced in the court.
