Punjab Weather Update: The biting cold wave in Punjab has intensified, accompanied by a thick blanket of dense fog that has engulfed numerous districts, creating hazardous conditions for residents and travelers alike. With temperatures plummeting below 10 degrees Celsius in most regions, the Meteorological Department has sounded an orange alert, cautioning citizens to brace for a day dominated by reduced visibility.

The Meteorological Department has identified several districts where the dense fog is expected to persist throughout the day. Among the areas under the orange alert are Sardulgarh, Budhlada, Lehra, Mansa, Sunam, Sangrur, Barnala, and many others. Travelers planning to visit or commute through these regions are advised to exercise caution and use fog lights while on the roads.

The thick fog has significantly disrupted transportation systems, impacting road traffic, trains, and air flights. Notably, 8 flights from Chandigarh and 13 from Amritsar were affected within the last 24 hours, prompting concerns for those planning New Year celebrations in these areas.

In light of the challenging weather conditions, the Meteorological Department has issued a set of advisories. People are urged to limit outdoor activities, venture out only when necessary, and exercise caution on the roads. The use of fog lights is strongly recommended to enhance visibility during travel.
