CM Bhagwant Mann Hands Over Appointment Letters to Youths in Punjab Power Corporations
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann handed over appointment letters to 2,105 young people recruited in the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and the Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited (PSTCL), bringing the total number of government jobs given to youth so far to 58,962, according to an official press release.
Addressing a ceremony at the Government Medical College, Amritsar, Chief Minister Mann described unemployment as the root cause of social problems and said his government is committed to eradicating it.
He said that in the past three and a half years since assuming office, the state government has provided around 58,962 government jobs to young people, and called it a record achievement in itself.
Detailing the latest recruitments, the Chief Minister said that 2,023 linemen, 48 internal auditors, and 35 revenue accountants have been appointed in PSPCL and PSTCL. Since April 2022, a total of 8,984 appointments have been made in these two corporations, he added.
Mann emphasized that the campaign to provide employment opportunities to Punjab’s youth would continue and expressed pride that the recruitments were carried out solely on the basis of merit.
Taking a dig at previous governments, he said, “During earlier regimes, youth could only get jobs through cash and favour, but we have completely ended that practice.”
The Chief Minister also urged students to draw inspiration from Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, who overcame immense hardships to achieve greatness.
Mann said that the newly appointed employees are now an integral part of the government and should serve the public with dedication and missionary zeal. He expressed hope that they would use their positions to help the poor and underprivileged.
He also encouraged the youth to actively participate in the state government’s initiatives, including the war against drugs campaign, to contribute to building a progressive and drug-free Punjab.
