Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji (Sri Nagar Wale) Honoured with Padma Shri

Celebrated Sikh kirtani Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji (Sri Nagar Wale) has been awarded the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours, by President Droupadi Murmu, in a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday.

The award recognises Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji’s decades-long dedication to the art of Gurbani Kirtan, through which he has inspired millions and helped preserve the spiritual and musical traditions of the Sikh faith. His voice, steeped in devotion and purity, has echoed in Gurdwaras across the globe, earning deep respect across communities.

This recognition is seen as a moment of pride not only for the Sikh Panth but also for the world of Indian spiritual music. Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji’s tireless efforts in spreading the message of Guru Granth Sahib Ji through divine melody have now received long-overdue national appreciation.

Expressing his happiness, the BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, "A proud moment for the Sikh community! Renowned Raagi and celebrated Shabad Kirtaniya Bhai Harjinder Singh Ji has been honoured with the Padma Shri award by President Droupadi Murmu Ji for his outstanding contribution to the field of Art. This recognition not only makes every Sikh proud but also reflects how Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji truly respects our religious leaders and values their immense contribution to India’s spiritual and cultural fabric."

"Unfortunately, some people with divisive agendas will always try to spread hatred… but such historic honours reaffirm that India’s soul stands with unity, respect, and gratitude towards all faiths," he concluded.
