Himachal CM Sukhvinder Sukhu meets CM Bhagwant Mann

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today. After the meeting, both the Chief Ministers gave information in a joint press conference. Discussion on Water Cess was held in the meeting.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said, "Punjab and Himachal are brothers. Both the states will work together for tourism. Pathankot to Dalhousie Ropeway and Anandpur Sahib to Naina Devi Ropeway etc. projects will be launched."

CM Mann said that in the meeting they had a discussion regarding electricity as Punjab needs additional power during the wheat season. He said that talks are going on with Himachal government for power supply. Punjab gets expensive power from distant states but getting power from Himachal will save additional transmission costs.

CM Sukhu said that he has come on the invitation of CM Bhagwant Maan for breakfast. He further said, "A misunderstanding has arisen regarding water cess, we have not imposed cess on water. We have imposed water cess only on hydro projects. Punjab has no hydro project ongoing in Himachal. This will not harm Punjab and Haryana."
