Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi Acquitted in Faridkot Extortion Case Due to Lack of Evidence

Lawrence Bishnoi Acquitted Latest News Today: In a major legal development, a Punjab court acquitted gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in a case involving an extortion demand 0of Rs 50 lakh from a textile businessman in Kotkapura. The verdict was delivered by Judicial Magistrate (JMIC) S. Sohi, citing a lack of sufficient evidence against Bishnoi.

The case was registered on July 19, 2021, at City Kotkapura police station, based on a complaint filed by the businessman. According to the complaint, gangster Goldie Brar, a known associate of Bishnoi, allegedly made a WhatsApp call to demand ₹50 lakh in extortion, threatening the businessman’s family with dire consequences if the amount was not paid. While Bishnoi was arrested and investigated in connection with the case, Brar remains absconding.

No Concrete Evidence Against Bishnoi

Following the complaint, when Bishnoi was brought to Punjab in 2022 for questioning in another case, the Faridkot Police formally arrested him in connection with the extortion case and produced him in court. Subsequent hearings were conducted via video conferencing.

However, after reviewing the case details, the court ruled in Bishnoi’s favor, citing the absence of direct evidence linking him to the crime. Bishnoi’s defense lawyer, Amit Mittal, expressed satisfaction with the verdict, stating, "The court has accepted our arguments and ordered his acquittal due to insufficient evidence."

The case remains open against Goldie Brar, and authorities continue their search for him.
