Punjab News: Father-in-law stabs wife and daughter-in-law, one dead
A relative of Anju told the media that she did not have any children and had been married for three years.
In another case of men killing women family members, a man in Patiala district of Punjab allegedly attacked his wife and daughter-in-law with a knife. The incident led to the death of the daughter-in-law, while the wife is in critical condition.
The alleged attack was carried out in Kasabian Wale Mohalla of Sanaur town in Patiala recently.
Police Station Chief Harvinder Singh, Sanaur, said that the police were informed by a doctor at Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, about the death of a married woman identified as Anju Rani.
According to the information, it was learned that at around 3 am, the father-in-law attacked his wife and daughter-in-law with knives, due to which both were seriously injured and taken to Rajindra Hospital for treatment. Doctors declared the daughter-in-law, Anju, dead, while the mother-in-law, Malkit Kaur, is undergoing treatment and remains in critical condition.
The police have registered a case against the girl’s father-in-law, Prakash Chand, based on the statements given by the deceased Anju’s grandfather, Baldev Singh.
A relative of Anju told the media that she did not have any children and had been married for three years. He added that there had been quarrels in the past as well; however, the reason for the extreme step, he said, is unknown. The relative demanded the strictest punishment for the accused.
