Punjab Braces for Prolonged Period of Thick Fog; Meteorological Department Issues Red Alert

Punjab Weather Update

Punjab Weather Update: In a significant weather development, Punjab is currently grappling with dense fog, leading to zero visibility in several districts. The blanket of fog, persistent from 5.30 am to 8 am, has engulfed regions including Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Moga, Hoshiarpur, Patiala, Gurdaspur, Mohali, and Barnala, causing disruptions in road traffic.

Humidity levels have soared to 100 percent due to the dense fog, intensifying the challenges faced by commuters. Despite vehicle headlights being switched on, the thick fog renders visibility practically nonexistent. The adverse weather conditions have not only impacted morning travel but have lingered throughout the day in many districts, with visibility ranging from 50 to 100 meters until noon.

Reportedly, The sun's rays proved ineffective in penetrating the dense fog, resulting in a sunless day in numerous districts. Day temperatures recorded three to five degrees Celsius lower than usual, contributing to a bitterly cold atmosphere. Night temperatures, however, were higher than normal in several districts, attributed to the influence of the Western Disturbance.
