Chandigarh: The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab Government has ensured a smooth and efficient paddy procurement season, adopting a proactive approach that has benefited 10,11,149 farmers with Minimum Support Price (MSP) payments till November 5, according to an official press release.
Procurement, lifting, and payment processes are underway in full swing under the supervision of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Lal Chand Kataruchak, the release stated.
Patiala district is leading the state with 95,021 farmers having received MSP benefits so far.
A total of 1,38,69,759.05 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has arrived at mandis across Punjab till the evening of November 5. Out of this, 1,35,97,879.27 MT has already been procured, representing 98 percent of the total arrival.
The total lifting figure stands at 1,17,29,851.90 MT, marking 86 percent of the total procured crop so far, the press release added.
The state government reiterated its commitment to ensuring timely procurement, smooth lifting, and prompt payments to farmers across Punjab.
