Mann Government Committed to Welfare of Differently Abled Persons; Focuses on Making Them Self-Reliant
Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare, upliftment, and empowerment of differently abled persons, the Punjab Government has so far released rupees 287.95 crore as financial assistance, benefiting 2,76,175 eligible beneficiaries across the state, according to an official press note citing Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur.
The state government has earmarked rupees 495 crore for the financial year 2025–26 to ensure effective and transparent implementation of the welfare scheme.
Dr. Baljit Kaur emphasized that integrating persons with disabilities into the mainstream of society is among the top priorities of the Punjab Government. Besides financial assistance, efforts are underway to provide employment opportunities, skill development training, and accessible infrastructure to make them self-reliant and empowered.
She added that the government’s goal is not merely to provide assistance but to enable every specially abled person to lead a dignified and independent life.
Dr. Kaur has directed officials to ensure that the benefits of the financial assistance scheme reach every eligible beneficiary and that no deserving person is left out.
