Punjab Weather Update: IMD issues alert for rainfall in the state
Yellow alert for 19 districts of Punjab
Punjab Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department on Tuesday issued a yellow alert for 19 districts of Punjab on March 1 and then orange alert across the state for March 2. According to the alert, there may be rain with thunderstorm and lightning in 19 districts.
As per the IMD, the yellow alert has been issued for March 1 in Pathakot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Firozpur, Moga, Bathinda, Ludhiana, Barnala, Mansa, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, SAS Nagar, and Malerkotla.
Likewise, an orange alert has been issued for March 2 in Pathakot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Hoshiarpur, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Moga, Ludhiana, Barnala, Sangrur, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, Patiala, SAS Nagar, and Malerkotla while a yellow alert has been issued for March 2 in Firozpur, Fazilka, Bathinda, Faridkot, Muktsar, and Mansa.
The department has also expressed the possibility of rain on March 3. According to the department, a new western disturbance is becoming active in Punjab on February 29.
On the other hand, even though the minimum temperature of Punjab has increased by 0.8 degrees on Monday, the temperature of four cities including Amritsar is still below normal. Pathankot and Gurdaspur have been the coldest with 5.1 degrees. The department has predicted that the weather will remain dry for the next three days.
The minimum temperature in Amritsar was 6.0 degrees (2.3 degrees below normal), Ludhiana 9.1 degrees (0.9 degrees below normal), Patiala 9.0 degrees (2.1 degrees below normal), Bathinda 9.4 degrees (0.1 degrees below normal), SBS Nagar recorded 7.8 degrees, Barnala 8.2 and Jalandhar 7.0 degrees.
An increase of 0.7 degrees was recorded in the maximum temperature of Punjab, but currently it remains close to normal. Samrala had the highest temperature of 26.5 degrees. Amritsar recorded 19.9 degrees (3.5 degrees below normal), Ludhiana 24.2, Patiala 24.5, Pathankot 22.9, Bathinda 23.6 degrees (0.5 degrees below normal), SBS Nagar 24.0 and Jalandhar 23.2 degrees.
