Nowcast: Red alert issued in Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala

The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, has issued red alerts in Punjab’s Fatehgarh Sahib and Patiala districts, warning of moderate rainfall under the nowcast, valid till 7:30 pm this evening.

The districts have also been warned of moderate thunderstorms with maximum surface wind speeds of 41–61 km per hour in gusts, along with thunderstorms accompanied by hail.

However, thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, along with hailstorms, and strong surface winds are likely to continue tonight in several areas of the districts.

Citizens are advised to leave their homes only when necessary, as weather conditions pose threats to the safety of life, including the possibility of being struck by lightning, exposure to cold due to strong winds and rain, hailstorms, and strong winds that may uproot or snap trees and electricity poles.
