Amritsar Police Bust Kishan Gang Network, Solve Municipal Councillor’s Murder Case in 8 Hours

In a swift and decisive operation, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police cracked down on an organized crime network linked to the foreign-based Kishan Gang, arresting four of its operatives within eight hours of the murder of Harjinder Singh alias Bahman, a Municipal Councillor from Jandiala Guru.

The breakthrough comes as a major success in Punjab’s intensified campaign against organized crime and inter-gang rivalries.

According to police officials, during a hot pursuit near Fatahpur, one of the accused, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi, opened fire at the police team. In an act of self-defence, SHO Chheharta retaliated with his service weapon, injuring Gopi in the right leg. The accused was immediately rushed to Civil Hospital, Amritsar, where he is currently undergoing treatment under police custody.

The police recovered a Glock 9mm pistol from the possession of the accused.

Authorities confirmed that the four suspects arrested played a key role in the planned murder of Harjinder Singh, and that the killing was part of a larger web of gang-related violence orchestrated from abroad.

The police assured the public of continued efforts to ensure peace and security, vowing that such criminal elements will not be allowed to destabilize law and order in the state. Further arrests and disclosures are expected as the probe expands.
