Reward Policy in Punjab: Police Encourage Citizens to Report Absconders and Offenders

The Punjab Government has introduced a Reward Policy aimed at apprehending wanted criminals across the state, including absconders, proclaimed offenders, habitual offenders, and those deliberately avoiding arrest. Reward amounts under the policy will range from Rs. 1 lakh to over Rs. 2 lakh, depending on the case.

Senior police officers have been authorised to approve rewards for members of the public who provide actionable information and for police personnel who carry out exceptional operations. Measures have been put in place to ensure the identity of informants remains confidential throughout the process.

Punjab Police Chief Gaurav Yadav said that the policy is expected to encourage public participation and enhance safety across the state.

This initiative marks an addition to recent initiatives such as the Gangstran Te Vaar Campaign and Operation Prahaar taken by state police and administration, to mitigate crime and maintain law and order.
