Punjab News: Woman, mother and son die by suicide in village Bhudan; video recorded

Punjab News: In the village Bhudan of Malerkotla district, a 31-year-old widow allegedly died by suicide after consuming a poisonous substance along with her elderly mother and nine-year-old son.

The deceased have been identified as Inderpal Kaur (31), her son Jordan Singh (9), and her mother Hardeep Kaur. Inderpal Kaur’s husband, Pawandeep Singh, had passed away a few years ago, and her mother had been living with her.

Inderpal Kaur and Hardeep Kaur died during the night, while Jordan succumbed the following morning. According to information, when Jordan Singh woke up in the morning, he found his mother and grandmother dead. He then informed his grandmother (paternal), following which panic spread in the area. Eyewitnesses stated that the poison had also affected the child who was sleeping with his mother and grandmother. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition but died on the way.

Sandaur police station in-charge Inspector Gagandeep Singh said that before taking the extreme step, Inderpal Kaur had recorded a video in which she held ten people, including neighbours, family members, and relatives, responsible for her death.

According to Malerkotla Police, an FIR (No. 203) has been registered at Sandaur police station on the statement of the deceased’s brother Kuldeep Singh, son of Achhra Singh, resident of village Gurbakhshpura, police station Sherpur, district Sangrur. The FIR has been registered against the ten people named in the video, including Charanjit Kaur (mother-in-law), Bhola Singh, Sukhpal Singh (son of Bhola Singh), Daljit Kaur (wife of Bhola Singh), Babi Kaur (daughter of Bhola Singh), Koru Singh, Pammu Singh, Jasmeel Kaur, Gurpreet Singh, and Kirna Kaur, wife of Nam Lumb, residents of village Bhudan.

In this regard, the deceased woman’s brother said that they staged a protest outside the Sandaur police station to demand the immediate arrest of the accused. He stated that the police have given an assurance till 11 am tomorrow to arrest the accused. He added that only after that would they allow post-mortem examinations of all three bodies, following which the last rites would be performed in their native village, Gurbakhshpura, and not in Bhudan, the woman’s matrimonial village.
