Punjab government has amended rules to ensure that no political symbols were used for contesting Punjab Panchayat Election 2024.
Punjab Panchayat Election 2024 Schedule Voting Result Date Latest News: In a major development, the State Election Commission, Punjab, has announced the date for Punjab Panchayat Election 2024.
Earlier, the State Election Commission (SEC), Punjab, directed Deputy Commissioners to issue notification on the reservations of the offices of Sarpanches in their respective districts and simultaneously asked DCs to supply a copy of the notification to the SEC via email.
It is pertinent to mention that the elections will be held via Ballot Box and not EVM machines. According to the information, there will be a whopping 1,33,97,932 numbers of voters in the state.
- September 27 - Issue of Notification/Filing of Nomination Begins
- October 4 - Last Date For Filing Nomination
- October 7 - Last Date For Withdrawal of Nomination
- October 15 - Voting (From 8 Am to 4 PM) | Result (5 PM Onwards)
- Sarpanch Expenditure Allowed - Rs 40,000
- Panch Expenditure Allowed - Rs 30,000
- Votes will be cast separately for Sarpanch and Panch
For the Sarpanch election, a ballot paper of pink color would be provided while a white color ballot paper would be given to cast a vote for Panch. There is a different Model Code of Conduct for Gram Panchayat Elections in Punjab as it will be imposed only in the jurisdiction of the respective Gram Panchayat.
Notably, the AAP-led Punjab government has amended rules to ensure that no political symbols were used for contesting Punjab Panchayat Election 2024.
