Nothing less than MSP Law at C2+50% ensuring procurement for all Crops Acceptable to Farmers
Prime Minister Hellbent on Facilitating Corporate Profitteering and Take-over of Agriculture Production and Marketing
Nothing less than MSP Guarantee Law at C2+50% ensuring procurement for all Crops Acceptable to Farmers of India: New Delhi, 25th February, 2025: Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) today strongly condemned the treacherous trickery being played by the Union Govt. to avoid enacting the law for guaranteeing MSP of all crops at the Swaminathan Commission mandated C2+50% formula and ensuring procurement and MSP realisation.
SKM stressed that at the behest of corporate lobby and anti-national forces who want to take-over agriculture and profiteer at the cost of food security of India, Modi Govt. has been deceiving Farmers of India about MSP Guarantee Law for 11 years. It is time to call this bluff through resounding nationwide protests so that the Union Govt. can once again be brought to heel and made to heed the genuine demands of farmers and honour the written assurance given by the Union Govt. to farmers, on the basis of which SKM suspended the historic Delhi Farmers Protest in December 2021.
SKM reiterated that it will not back down on its demand of enacting a law guaranteeing MSP at C2+50% formula and ensuring procurement and price realisation; nothing short of that is acceptable to farmers of India.
SKM pointed out that the so-called National Policy Framework on Agricultural Marketing being proposed is nothing but reintroduction of the 3 anti-farmer black laws which SKM forced the Union Govt. to repeal and therefore the farmers of India will not allow the Policy to see the light of day.
SKM also asserted that alternatives of partial procurement of 25-30% of crops at MSP being suggested by some quarters are anti-farmer, in favor of corporate houses and a conspiracy to deprive farmers of their legal right. Hence, farmers of India and SKM reject outright such suggestions and warns all those who are muddying the waters through this murky conspiracy that they will not be spared and forgiven by the farmers of India. SKM appeals to all farmer organisations to be cautious in this regard.
