Weather Update Today: Punjab registers slight rise in minimum temperature

Punjab Weather News Update Today: Punjab has been issued a red alert as cold day conditions and dense fog continue to prevail across the state. Punjab on Thursday registered a rise of 1.3 degrees Celsius. India Meteorological Department stated that it was still near normal in the state. 

In the meanwhile, the lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Ballowal Saunkhri (AMFU) where the mercury level slightly rose to 3.4 degrees Celsius. 

According to information, Chandigarh recorded 4.6 degrees Celsius, while Chandigarh (Airport) recorded 5.6 degrees Celsius, Amritsar recorded 5.5, Ludhiana 5.5, Patiala 5.0, Pathankot 6.0, Bathinda 5.0, Faridkot 5.0, Gurdaspur 4.0, Ballowal (SBS Nagar) 3.4, Faridkot (AWS) 6.9, Samrala (Ludhiana) 6.5, Budh Singh Wala (Moga) 5.9, Mohali 5.5 and Ropar recorded 4.9.
  
Earlier, the India Meteorological Department on Wednesday stated that "a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from 25th and another from January 27, 2024." 

Similarly, the IMD has also issued a red alert in the state for January 25 predicting dense to very dense fog along with cold day to severe cold day conditions at most places.

It also stated that the weather has been dry in Haryana and Punjab with dense to very dense fog reported from most places in Punjab and Haryana. Similarly, cold day to severe cold day conditions occurred at many places in Punjab and Haryana.
