Punjab police has registered a case against Archana Makwana, after the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) alleged she hurt religious sentiments by performing meditation and a headstand ("Shirsasana") at the Golden Temple on June 21, International Yoga Day.
Following online death threats, Gujarat police has also placed her under protection and advised her to stay home.
The SGPC criticized the act, prompting Makwana to delete the photos and issue a video apology, stating, "I thought performing a Shirsasana at such a sacred site would convey unity and fitness. I never imagined it would offend anyone."
