Eminent playwright and Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singh's mentor Jatinder Brar passes away at 81

Jatinder Brar news:  Eminent playwright Jatinder Brar passed away at the age of 81, leaving behind a vibrant, extensive career that shaped many lives. 

A Shiromani Natak Award recipient, Brar was the founder of Punjab Naatshala, an open-air theatre space dedicated to promoting theatre and dramatic arts.

His notable plays include “Lohe Di Bhatti”, “Faasle”, “Kudedan Ki Jaai”, “Kadessan”, and “Paydan”.

According to a report by The Tribune, Brar authored over 40 short plays and received around 50 awards during his career. His honours include the Punjab Gaurav Award, Shiromani Playwright Award, Punjab Sahitya Natak Akademi Award, and the Gursharan Singh Award.

Brar, an engineer by profession, also played a key role in nurturing several theatre talents, including comedian Kapil Sharma and Bharti Singh, the Tribune report published in July, 2024, said
