Punjab Covid Death Latest News: The first Covid-19 death in Punjab after a span of nearly eight months has been reported, as a 60-year-old woman from Sherpur village in Hoshiarpur succumbed to the virus in a private hospital in Jalandhar. The woman, who also had diabetes, had sought medical attention due to a high fever and difficulty breathing.

Upon testing at the hospital, she was confirmed positive for Covid-19. In adherence to Covid protocols, the cremation of the deceased will be conducted. The news has instilled a sense of panic among the local population, emphasizing the gravity of the ongoing pandemic.

Simultaneously, a 46-year-old man in Jalandhar has tested positive for the virus and is currently under home isolation. Dr. Jagdeep Chawla, the Civil Surgeon, informed that Jalandhar Civil Hospital has established a 4-bed isolation ward, and necessary preparations have been made to handle Covid cases.

The surge in Covid cases in Jalandhar is evident, with the number of daily patients rising from around 90 to close to 185. Authorities are particularly vigilant about the JN1 variant, prompting the issuance of guidelines to all government hospitals across the state. The health department emphasizes the importance of mask-wearing, making it mandatory in crowded places, and advising citizens to avoid such areas.

As part of preventive measures, doctors, paramedics, and health workers in hospitals are required to wear masks compulsorily. The health department remains on high alert, implementing strategies to curb the spread of the virus and protect the community.
