CM Mann Delivers on Dairy Promise: Rs 135 Crore Milk Plant Expansion Boosts Punjab Farmers

Amritsar: Proving yet again that promises made are promises kept, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann today laid the foundation stone of a Rs 135 crore expansion project for the Verka milk plant in Amritsar—delivering on a major commitment to the dairy farmers and consumers of Punjab. This initiative stands as a testament to how only the Mann-led Punjab Government has continuously prioritized the welfare of the common people over personal or political gains.

Where previous governments used lofty words and empty promises, CM Mann has shown tangible action. This mega expansion project will significantly increase production capacity of value-added products such as lassi, curd, and various flavoured milks, giving a massive boost to Punjab’s dairy sector.

A Vision of Progress That Only Mann Sarkar Made Reality
Addressing the public at the event, CM Mann made it clear: “Such developmental events never took place under earlier regimes because they were too busy securing power and protecting family legacies. Today, Punjab is witnessing daily signs of change—because this government works 24x7 for aam lokan di bhalayi (the welfare of common people).”

This project isn’t just infrastructure—it’s a symbol of revival, reform, and responsibility.

From Farms to Global Platforms: Punjab Leads the Dairy Renaissance
Under CM Mann’s leadership, Milkfed Punjab has been strategically transformed into a globally competitive brand. Verka products are now available through e-commerce platforms, allowing Punjabis across the globe to access the taste of home with just a click.

Furthering the global vision, the government is planning to rope in Punjab’s sporting icons as brand ambassadors, amplifying Verka’s reach and brand equity across the world.

True Economic Support for Farmers and Workers
The Mann government has done what no previous administration dared—providing Rs 100 crore in direct budgetary support to ensure higher milk procurement prices for farmers. For the first time, employees of Milkfed will benefit from revised service rules that ensure equal pay and performance-based incentives, mirroring government standards.

Moreover, the initiative will lead to the recruitment of 1,200 new employees, opening job opportunities for Punjab’s youth.

Verka’s Brand Power Grows Under Mann Government
New product lines including Rabri and Cashew Almond Milk are being launched to cater to modern consumers, while a new mascot, ‘Veera’, has been unveiled as the face of Verka—further strengthening its emotional bond with customers.

CM Mann emphasized that Milkfed’s core strength remains its commitment to quality—from farm-level milk collection to state-of-the-art testing and production facilities. Massive investments in ultra-modern plants and quality assurance systems ensure that every drop of milk meets the highest standards.

Milkfed’s Expansion is Punjab’s Revival
The Mann government’s relentless push is also expanding Verka’s footprint beyond Punjab—with launches in Delhi and NCR and more on the horizon. The Chief Minister urged farmers to continue supplying milk to Verka, promising them the best prices and support.

With an annual turnover exceeding Rs 6,000 crore, Milkfed—once neglected—has now become India’s seventh largest milk cooperative, thanks to the dedication and foresight of the Punjab Government.

A Model of What Governance Should Be
From empowering farmers to ensuring job security, and from global marketing to local product excellence, this project encapsulates what only Bhagwant Mann’s government has achieved—real, measurable change. As CM Mann said, “We are not just expanding a plant; we are rebuilding trust, reviving our economy, and restoring Punjab’s pride.”
