Food Commission to strengthen implementation of NFSA-DP Reddy
ADCs to be designated as the District Grievance Redressal Officers for complaints related to NFSA
Spokesman News Service: Chandigarh, November 22: Continuing with the series of meetings with the stakeholder departments in the implementation of National Food Safety Act (NFSA), 2013, the Punjab Food Commission under the Chairmanship of Mr. DP Reddy held a meeting with the officers of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs at Anaj Bhawan, Chandigarh.
Conveying the aim of the Commission, Mr. Reddy said that strengthening the implementation of NFSA is the primary endeavor of the Commission. In line with this, “we need to put all the initiatives on fast track, and accord top priority to the grievance redressal,” said he. Sharing the seriousness towards grievance redressal, Mr. Reddy said the Commission is mulling over designating ADC/ADC(D) as the District Grievance Redressal Officer for complaints related to NFSA.
Moreover, the State Food Commission will put in its best efforts to sensitize, guide and facilitate the other stakeholder departments such as Department of Social Security and Department of Education besides the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department, to ensure that the schemes under NFSA are delivered more effectively.
Earlier, Ms. Anindita Mitra, Director, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Punjab apprised the Commission regarding the implementation of NFSA, 2013 and End to End Computerization ofTargeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) operations in the State. She also discussed the existing grievance redressal mechanism of the complaints related to NFSA, 2013.
Besides Mr. KAP Sinha, Principal Secretary, Food Civil Supplies, the meeting was attended by Mr. P.S. Shergill, Mr. Gursharandeep Singh Grewal, Ms. Jasvinder Kumar, Ms. Kirandeep Kaur (the members of the Commission) and Mr. Amandeep Bansal, Member Secretary Food Commission.
