Efforts Continue to Curb Drug and Mobile Phone Usage Despite Challenges

FEROZEPUR: In an ongoing battle against the persistent issue of drug and mobile phone use within Ferozepur Central Jail, the prison administration has once again seized contraband items. Eleven packets of illegal substances, believed to have been smuggled in from outside the prison, were discovered on the jail's factory grounds.

Assistant Superintendent of Ferozepur Central Jail, Sarvjit Singh, disclosed that these 11 packets, containing items like Zarda, Chaini-Khaini packets, Beedis, lighters, and cigarettes, were discreetly thrown into the jail premises by unidentified individuals. The vigilant jail staff promptly recovered the illicit packages.

Furthermore, acting on confidential information, a search operation led to the recovery of a mobile phone from an inmate identified as Amaldeep Singh, who was in the lock-up. Another mobile phone was found in an unclaimed condition within the jail premises. In response to these findings, the Ferozepur City Police were promptly alerted to take necessary action.

Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Gurmail Singh of Police station City Ferozepur confirmed that a case has been registered against the unknown culprits, encompassing charges of smuggling and related offenses. An investigation into the matter is now underway.
