Update on Passenger Aboard Flight No. IX-1086, Bengaluru to Varanasi, Attempting to Open Cockpit: According to news agency ANI, officials stated that on Monday, a message was received by ATC from Pilot Siddharth Sharma of Flight No. IX-1086, flying from Bengaluru to Varanasi, that one passenger, identified as Mani (part of a group of nine passengers), pressed the security code of the cockpit door, alerting the crew on board.

The passenger expressed ignorance about his act, stating that he was unaware, as he was a ‘first-time’ flyer, according to officials.

The crew identified all the fellow passengers, and based on the information, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) took all of them for interrogation and informed the local police.

Earlier, an Air India Express spokesperson stated that the airline was aware of media reports regarding an incident on one of its flights to Varanasi, where a passenger approached the cockpit entry area while looking for the lavatory.

“We reaffirm that robust safety and security protocols are in place and were not compromised. The matter was reported to the relevant authorities on landing and is currently under investigation,” the spokesperson added.
