Punjab Weather Updates Today — The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Chandigarh, has issued orange and yellow alerts for eastern districts of Punjab for today, July 22, warning of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and other adverse weather conditions.

The state weather station has placed four districts under orange alert: Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, and Fatehgarh Sahib.

The districts under yellow alert are Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Ludhiana, SAS Nagar, and Patiala.

No alerts have been issued for the remaining districts in the general forecast for today.

However, the IMD has also issued red alerts for four districts, warning of heavy rain accompanied by moderate thunderstorms, with maximum surface wind speeds between 41–61 kmph in gusts. The nowcast is valid up to 1:40 p.m. today.

In its nowcast, the IMD has placed five districts under orange alert, warning of moderate rain accompanied by moderate thunderstorm, with gusty surface winds. These districts are Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Bathinda, and Mansa.

The weather is expected to remain cool throughout the week.

For Thursday, July 23, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala, warning of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and similar weather conditions.

No alerts have been issued for the remaining districts as of now.

Weather Observed in the Past 24 Hours:
In the past 24 hours, there has been a change of -1.2°C in the average minimum temperature, which remains near normal.

The lowest minimum temperature in the state was 23.1°C, recorded at Thein Dam (AWS), Pathankot, while Hoshiarpur received the highest rainfall in the state at 96.5 mm.
