Punjab Govt School Students Crack JEE Main 2026 Session 1: 305 Qualify, Says Harjot Bains

A total of 305 students studying in Punjab government schools have successfully qualified for JEE Main 2026 (Session 1), Education Minister Harjot Bains said on Saturday.

In comparison, 187 students from government schools had cleared the examination in the first session last year, showing a significant increase in the number of qualifiers this year.

The minister stated that the number is likely to increase further once the results of the second attempt are announced. He described the achievement as proof of the steady improvement in the standard of education being provided in Punjab’s government schools.

According to him, several of the students who cleared the examination come from modest and underprivileged backgrounds.

Bains highlighted that students from different parts of the state contributed to this performance. He specifically mentioned that five students from a government school in the Anandpur Sahib Assembly segment have qualified for the examination.

The minister added that the students received preparatory support and guidance through the state government’s ‘PACE’ coaching portal.
