Chandigarh, February 21: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Aman Arora on Thursday raised the issue of indigenous and American breeds of bovines, While elaborating on the menace of stray cattle in the state, he stressed the need for focusing more on rearing of indigenous breed than to American breed of categorized as Bose Torris (American) and Bose Torris (Indigenous).

He further said that genetically, biologically and religiously both the breeds cannot be related to each other for many reasons than one. The government should go for conducting DNA test on both the breeds of bovines. He said that the root cause of stray cattle was the American breed only.

Arora further said that due to the menace of stay cattle, the rate of road accidents had escalated. Of the total number of deaths occurring on the roads, 150 were attributable to the presence of stray cattle, besides damaging crops worth Rs 200 crore, Arora said
