Breakthrough in Drive to Make Punjab Safe and Secure; Two Bambiha Gang Operatives Arrested, Latest News: In a major breakthrough amid the ongoing drive to make Punjab a safe and secure state as per the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab in a joint operation, acting on specific inputs, has arrested two operatives of the Davinder Bambiha Gang.
In the joint operation with Barnala Police, the AGTF recovered six pistols from the possession of the arrested accused, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, in a press release.
The arrested accused have been identified as Sandeep Singh, a resident of Hanumangarh town in Rajasthan, and Sekher, a resident of Kaithal in Haryana.
Police teams recovered arms and ammunition, including one PX5 pistol, one .30 bore pistol, four .32 bore pistols, and 19 live cartridges. The teams also impounded a Maruti Swift car (registration number PB01AX0945), which the accused were allegedly using to retrieve and deliver weapon consignments.
As per the preliminary investigation, DGP Yadav said the accused were acting on the directions of their foreign-based handlers and were planning to supply these weapons to foot soldiers of the Bambiha Gang to execute sensational crimes in the state.
Further investigation is underway to establish backward and forward linkages in the case and to identify and dismantle the entire supply chain, he added.
Providing operational details, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Punjab Promod Ban stated that police teams had received specific human and technical inputs about the gang’s handlers hatching a conspiracy to commit a major crime in the state.
Acting swiftly, teams from AGTF Punjab under the supervision of AIG AGTF Sandeep Goel, in a joint operation with Barnala Police, successfully apprehended both suspects from the Barnala–Bathinda main road near a drain at village Dhaula, he said.
The operation was led by Inspector Vikram from AGTF and Inspector Baljit Singh from CIA Barnala.
AIG Sandeep Goel further said that the arrested accused have a criminal history, with a previous case registered against them under the Arms Act.
FIR No. 107 has been registered under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Rureke Kalan, Barnala, on October 11, 2025, confirmed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Barnala Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam.
Further investigations are underway, and more arrests and recoveries are likely in the coming days, he added.
