Padma Shri Dr Rattan Singh Jaggi Honored with Gyan Ratna Award

CHANDIGARH: The Vice-President and Chancellor of PU Jagdeep Dhankhar distributed degrees to PhD candidates on the occasion of the 70th convocation of Panjab University on Saturday. During the function, eminent academician and Sikh scholar Padma Shri Dr. Rattan Singh Jaggi was honored with Gyan Ratna Award. Earlier, Dr. Jaggi was honored with the prestigious Padma Shri award in March 2023.
Dr. Rattan Singh Jaggi was given this award by the President in the presence of Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union Ministers. Dr. Ratan Singh Jaggi was awarded this prestigious award for his valuable contribution in the field of education and literature.
Notably, More than 90 years old, Dr. Jaggi is an eminent scholar of Hindi and Punjabi and has special expertise in Gurmat and Bhakti Lehar literature. Along with this, it is worth mentioning here that former Justice Ranjan Gogoi was awarded the degree of Doctor of Law. Apart from this, the writer and social activist Sudha N Murthy, present here, was honored with Doctor of Literature (D-Litt.) honorary degree.
